Felicia is the Nurse Case Manager at Midtown Clinic. Recently, she and I shared a patient who was elderly, hard of hearing and losing his home. Felicia and I met with this patient several times to speak with him about safe housing options. He was not interested in moving into assisted living despite his home being unsafe. Eventually, the patient's home was condemned, and he came to the Midtown clinic now homeless and seeking assistance.
Felicia went above and beyond for this patient in helping him locate housing at the Luther Center, ordering copies of his birth certificate, completing required forms, attending meetings with him, obtaining furniture to furnish the new apartment, and even spent her own money on clothing and personal hygiene items for the patient. This patient spent 6 nights in the hospital hotel because he had nowhere to go and throughout these days, Felicia worked diligently to ensure this patient obtained safe housing and enough food to eat.
