We had a confused patient who was in excess of 396 pounds. He was very belligerent and aggressive. Felicia was able to speak to this patient in a way he understood and appeared to calm him down. She was not the nurse assigned to care for this patient, yet for the entire time we had him, she talked with him every day and assured him that he was alright.
One day was difficult as this patient needed and Echo and was refusing. He refused to return to bed and ripped off his condom catheter. There were 4 staff members, including the doctor trying to return the patient to bed. Felicia was nominated to get him back to bed. She walked in and spoke softly with the patient. Felicia was firm with him but made him understand that we would need his assistance. Miraculously, he listened. Felicia is a talented, professional and caring nurse.
