An extremely tired mother came into the office for another follow-up appointment for her 1-month old son. For the last two weeks, the little fellow has had numerous visits for stomach troubles. Felicia Nelson, noticing the exhaustion in the mother, said, "How are You doing?" The mother proceeded to get emotional when saying, "I'm so tired, all he does it cry!"
He had finally just drifted off to sleep from all his crying. At that moment, Felicia asked if she could take the baby from the fatigued mother and the mother greatly appreciated the offer. Felicia told her to just rest. She checked her schedule and knew that she had 20-30 minutes before the next patient would need to be roomed and took the perfectly content baby to the nurses' station to be held.
The mother came out 20 minutes or so later, completely refreshed and appreciative. Felicia informed the mother that she's always here - please call anytime whether it's a question regarding the baby or just to hear a voice on the other end saying "It's ok, I'm here for you."
