Felicitas Navarro was nominated for her unwavering diligence to a needy patient and his family.
The patient was admitted to the hospital for surgery, but a number of miscommunications left the man and his family wondering what was wrong with him and what the next steps were going to be. When Felicitas learned of the family's confusion and how long they had been waiting for answers, she called the patient's doctor and got the official diagnosis.
The patient had to have large amounts of fluids pumped into him every 15 to 20 minutes. Felicitas dutifully changed the bags on every time mark without complaint.
"She was always right there when Dad would push his button," a family member wrote in a nomination letter. "If she was with another patient, she would pop her head in to ask him to be patient and she would be right over."
She helped to calm the family's fears and keep everyone in good spirits even in a difficult situation.
