Felipe climbed onto the patient’s bed and began to perform CPR. His co-workers continued to transport the patient to CCU while Felipe administered CPR en route.
Felipe joined CMH CCU’s team a few years ago as an experienced nurse from out of state. Throughout his time, Felipe has proven to provide excellent clinical skills to the patients he cares for at CMH. Recently, during a shift, Felipe responded to a code blue call in the telemetry department. Through his outstanding teamwork and collaboration with his fellow co-workers, the code team was able to achieve ROSC and prepare the patient for transport to the CCU. Midway through the transfer, Felipe noticed that the patient became asystole. Felipe literally jumped into action! He climbed onto the patient’s bed and began to perform CPR. His co-workers continued to transport the patient to CCU while Felipe administered CPR en route. The patient regained ROSC a second time! Felipe’s quick thinking and outstanding efforts allowed this patient’s family the time to come visit and say their goodbyes as this patient’s prognosis was poor. In my opinion, Felipe is a DAISY Nurse and an outstanding nurse role model.
