Felisha Lapan, RN

I had an emergency C-section, and it completely shocked me. I didn't feel human. I didn't understand what had happened and why it had happened. I was in the hospital longer due to my C-section, and every day I hoped and prayed my nurse would be Felisha for that day. She made me feel like a human. She showed me compassion in one of the most vulnerable times in my life. She felt like a friend rather than a caregiver, and she went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. She related to me and made me feel understood, made me not feel alone. She came and checked on me in her free time because she understood the scary change I had just experienced. She knew I needed that connection. She gave me a hug before being discharged and made sure to reassure me that I would be a good mother and that I'd be okay. If anyone deserves the DAISY Award it is absolutely her!! My postpartum experience wouldn't have been as great without Felisha.
