My family and I would like to recognize an extraordinary nurse, Fernando, who cared for my mother after her surgery at Memorial Miramar following a hysterectomy.

Your mission statement, "Heal the body, mind and spirit of those we touch," perfectly describes the care my family experienced. This was my mom's first major surgery, and we were overwhelmed, exhausted, and anxious. In her post-anesthesia state, she was in pain and disoriented.

Throughout every interaction, Fernando demonstrated exceptional compassion, patience, professionalism, and clinical competence. What impacted me most was the dignity with which he cared for my mother.

Whether assisting her to the restroom, helping her get dressed, or supporting her through moments that could easily have felt uncomfortable or embarrassing, he never once made her feel ashamed or vulnerable.
