As part of Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability: Certification Program Updates, Algorithm Transparency, and Information Sharing (HTI-1), Enhanced Oncology Model (EOM) is required for FHIR API clients using Medicare Advanced Alternative Payment Models (A-APMs). EOM implementation requires ~30,000 event code and nomenclature combinations to be evaluated for standardization using the EOM CLINICAL DATA ELEMENTS GUIDE. Meghan Singleton and Faith Krouse completed this review for development domains over the course of two months while maintaining progress for multiple other initiatives. This evaluation resulted in approximately 1900 new concept mappings being completed in one development domain. Additionally, during this evaluation, Meghan and Faith developed along with Laura Johnson and are implementing a plan to allow this standardization to be completed across all FHIR API client domains by using an automated process. This process allows our clients to have high-quality mapping completed in a manner that is incredibly efficient and is estimated to save ~150 concept mapping hours per client domain.
Mary Kay Puckett, Meghan Singleton, and Sam Pennel went through a new FHIR USCDIv3 implementation project similar to the one mentioned above to push approximately 150 standards to auto review, saving approximately 2600 hours across 262 client domains. I want to recognize these nurses for their dedication to teamwork, innovation for creating mapping processes, and providing a quality product to our clients.
