Recently, Fidel took care of a patient that was uninsured and could not afford the oxygen they needed to safely discharge. Fidel took it upon himself to find a concentrator for sale, negotiate the lowest price and presented the information to the patient's family. This unprompted act took place while Fidel was off campus and resulted in the family being able to purchase this equipment and go home. An act like this really demonstrated how Fidel's heart stays with his patient even after he clocks out every shift.
When I think about going above and beyond for a patient, this example, I believe, is how a patient's life can forever be changed by a nurse who truly cares. Well done Fidel!
