I believe Filda Navarro is the ideal DAISY Award Honoree!!! She became the Home Infusion Therapy RN in May. She said that her taking this role was an interim position and she began making huge changes to positively impact pt care and quality throughout Pierce County. She has received multiple DAISY Award nominations from patients and on average receives 2 Great Care Great Service Cards a week.
It has been wonderful to have Filda working in the Home Infusion Therapy Role. She is positive, works to ensure that all of my needs are met, that care is individualized in a manner in which pts can learn and understand what their care entails, Filda places patient care as her number one priority, she is professional and develops great connections with patients and families, she has worked to build connections with SJMC discharge planners, with vendor services that provide care when Group Health doesn’t have capacity, and she has worked to define strategizes that ultimately save the Coop money.
Filda’s expertise is beyond compare, she goes above and beyond with every visit. She is a wonderful example of living the Group Health mission, vision, and values. As well as living the Group Health Nursing vision. Patients all provide rave reviews of the care she provides.
Filda has started attending discharge planner meetings at SJMC to ensure she is aware of potential pts, there discharge plans, date, that they are eligible for the Home Infusion Therapy Service and has worked with pharmacy to ensure Sue, the only IV pharmacist for all of TSC has capacity and the ability to plan the mixing of antibiotics into her day. Filda has developed tracking tools to be used to improve the coordination of care through the Coop. She is extremely proactive. She knows when labs should result and has already messaged the provider and pharmacy to ensure they are aware of changes that will need to be made to treatment regimens, to ensure a well coordinated plan and that care gaps don’t exist for her pts. Filda has worked to establish relationships with Home Health. She has reduced costs by treating lines that are clotting or at risk of clotting instead of having to replace the PICC or midline. She has provide clinicians education on what to call for, when to call, and why it’s important. She has also worked with Home Health management and staff to ensure nursing care was provided to patients when all resources kept saying no to her requests.
Filda treats everyone with respect and kindness. She possesses the ability to help people see that what is important is providing high quality patient care even if it means we have to work a little harder that particular day. She works well with a diverse group of providers and clinicians who sometimes have varying treatment views.
