Finley Billings, MSN, RN

Finley was caring for a female patient that had experienced a catastrophic brain hemorrhage. Her family had recently made the difficult decision to transition to end-of-life care. Finley seized the moment to soothe their loss by creating a keepsake for them to take. She took fingerprints and a lock of hair from the patient arranging them artistically and in honor of their mother sister and spouse. Her sincere and compassionate act undoubtedly palliated some grief and redirected their bereavement to a celebration of the patient’s life! Her extraordinary nursing in this moment deserves recognition, and we are honored to have Finley a recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
