I felt terrible coming in, but she made it more manageable.
Have you ever met someone who was genuinely decent? I did in the emergency room. Her name is Fiona. She came in with such a bright, happy, but compassionate attitude. It was so obvious that she was concerned about me. She asked how I was doing, stopped what she was doing, looked at me, and commiserated with me as I talked. Everything she could offer to make me more comfortable, she offered. She took a genuine interest in me, and she repeatedly stopped in to see how I was doing. She did this even though I knew I was not her only patient. Sometimes, it is so evident that a person is in the right job for them. Fiona was born to be a nurse. I hope she stays in this field and keeps that warm, caring personality that she has. I felt terrible coming in, but she made it more manageable. I really appreciate her, and if I ever have to come back, I really hope to see her again.
