Fionnuala Doherty, RN

I had a recent stay in surgical two, where I met a nurse, Fionnuala. My first encounter with her was when she began a morning shift, coming into the shared room and introducing herself to all patients. She took the time to get to know all the patients in the room, and everyone was comfortable in her company. I found her very knowledgeable, she took the time to come to each patient and explained clearly the doctor's next plan of care each day after the doctor's rounds. No job was too much of an ask for her she never rushed or dismissed patients or other staff when speaking to her. On her break, she went to the shop and bought a newspaper for a patient who had missed the shop trolley coming around, a simple act that I think showed how genuine and kind she is. Fionnuala had been on duty for a couple of days in a row, and she made everyone in the room feel comfortable and safe. Fionnuala worked hard and tried her best for everyone, and all patients in the room had only good things to say about her. She is a credit to herself, her family, and the unit she works in
