On the day we were to be discharged, when we easily could’ve been overlooked or passed off, this nurse stayed with my husband and me, listening, offering advice, and wisdom on feeding, pacifiers, and how mom and dad could be incorporated into every aspect of baby’s care. She gave us confidence and time. The two things we needed most when heading home with our baby.

In the first hours of the morning, all of us were sleepy, and this nurse stepped into the room and brought us hope—she cared for us and provided the much-needed help, information, and love—the kind of motherly love that we needed.
