I suffer from ADHD which tends to make me very anxious and impulsive and sometimes leads me to make bad decisions. The incident and day that I'm referring to started when I found out devastating news about my wife which led me to almost make a very impulsive decision of signing myself out AMA.
While going back to my room, I saw Flo who I approached because she has always made me feel comfortable and calmer. She instantly knew something was not right with me. She took me to my room to talk. She was making more sense about the situation than I was; I couldn't even think straight. She calmed me right down and by talking to me, she allowed my head to clear and think more rationally. The way she said everything in a very calming manner made perfect sense.
She stopped me from making an impulsive decision that would have been devastating in my life. The way that she approaches people and speaks with people she exhibits a quality that I've always tried to live my life by. She says what she means, she means what she says and never says it mean.
After this situation, which ended up being pleasant, I came to find out she wasn't even my assigned nurse that day. She saw a patient in need and went above and beyond the call of duty to provide a little extra quality and caring words. Also, she is very good at cracking a joke at just the right time, but never making me feel like my situation is a joke.
