These procedures, which I have on a regular basis, really stress me out. My nurse told me right away she was there for me and would make me comfortable. She made sure I had extra warm blankets. She asked me where I preferred to have the IV, and she was an expert = no pain. She really considered my privacy when she attached the monitors. Because I am deaf with two cochlear implants, she altered her voice and really enunciated despite an accent that might have made it difficult for me to understand. In other words, in everything she did, she looked out for me and my comfort. I could not have asked for better care. That's a very busy clinic, and she could have been "professional" but distant. But she was not. She was warm and supportive. She definitely deserves recognition for her outstanding above-and-beyond way of treating patients. I would like to add that everyone I've encountered there over the years has been like that. The culture in that unit is so outstanding. I wish I knew the name of the anesthesiologist assistant, a man with longer hair, who was also funny. While working at trying to make me comfortable, he, too, was very special. Competence and Compassion should be the motto of that unit.

Thank you, Flordeliza, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
