Extraordinary clinical skills and compassionate care describe Florence Ingerson. She radiates the care and compassion associated with emergency nursing. "Thank you so much for your care and concern while taking outstanding care of my husband," wrote the wife of one patient. "I cannot thank you enough for taking such good care of my mother this week," wrote the daughter of another patient. Florence has also been recognized by another department for excellent documentation in patients' charts.

Florence cared for a teenage boy who experienced an allergic reaction that became quite serious, ending with intubation. She encouraged the parents to stay in the room with their son while the staff worked to save his life. The mother wrote, "Thank you for helping to save our son's life. It was so scary, but having him in your capable hands was a gift."

Florence is a preceptor on our unit. New Emergency Department nurses appreciate her attention to detail and the compassionate care she provides every patient and family. Walking by patient rooms, you can hear her providing education to the patients and families to help them understand the nature of their needs.

Florence is a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) and a Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN). She sets the standards for other nurses in the Emergency Department. As one patient described her, "Florence was amazing, a whole hospital of nurses like her would be ideal."
