Florence literally saved my life. I’m a nurse practitioner and I work as a hospitalist at St David’s north Austin. I’ve worked with plenty of nurses throughout my years of practice, but Florence truly is one of the best nurses I have ever encountered in my entire career. I was blessed to encounter her three days later as my nurse when I was finally moved to postpartum. She again helped with our baby even though that was not her assigned task, she did an extremely thorough assessment monitoring my residual symptoms, and I’m so grateful that I was able to thank her after my altered mental status had resolved. Florence was so kind to my husband and my family who were extremely worried after I had lost almost 5 L of blood, and all the time Florence stayed calm, cool, and collected. During my hospital stay of almost a week, I had many nurses, but the one that really stood out was Florence. There is not a scale to rate how amazing Florence was but anyone would be blessed to be cared for by her. In all my years of practice, I have never taken the time or felt compelled to recommend someone for a DAISY Award until now. Thank you, Florence.
