Francine approached the situation in a respectful manner and exhibited her kindness, and compassion as she understood accidents happen.
Being a healthy 45-year-old, I never in my life imagined losing my autonomy and independence. Feeling hopeless was never a feeling I wanted to experience until I was faced with it after spinal surgery. Losing control of not being able to carry out my own personal care, and unable to do activities of daily living was very stressful. I was blessed to have Francine as my registered nurse. She went above and beyond in my care and empowered the little task I was able to do.

I knew I had an exceptional nurse when I observed the care she provided for me. The night of post-surgery I was struck with an embarrassing moment, the night I realized to appreciate my autonomy. While being assisted to the restroom, halfway down the room, I felt something warm running down my legs, I looked down and I saw blood. I was mortified. At that moment, I wanted to run to clean myself. Unable to walk without a walker or assistance, I was brought back to the bedside. My menstruation flow had become heavy. As being assisted back to bed, I apologized for the mess I had caused. Francine approached the situation in a respectful manner and exhibited her kindness, and compassion as she understood accidents happen. She cared about me being taken care of, making me comfortable, and managing my pain in the process.

Francine and her lovely assistant S cleaned up my room, washed me, and changed me and my bedding. I was impressed with the excellent teamwork they both had. I continued to apologize to both, for so much time spent on me, I felt helpless. Francine reassured me that these things happen. I was grateful that not once did she make me feel rushed or ignored, she was very attentive in my care.
