Following a trip to the ER and emergency surgery, my husband was transferred to Acute 1S. We were still in shock with everything that had happened. I was a basket case, and the nurses on every shift were great, but one stood out. Her name was Fran, and she was amazing. She could sense all my distress and was always there whenever we had a question. She went above and beyond, making sure my husband was doing OK and asking if he needed anything. She brought me extra blankets and pillows to make me comfortable as I slept there for 3 nights. Fran told us everything she was doing and explained why the machines were beeping. Most of all, Fran would stay a little while when she could and talk to us as if she were a new and wonderful friend. We were happy to go home, but sad to leave someone who had become a dear friend we will treasure meeting forever.
