He does more than educate—he empowers nurses, advocates for meaningful change, and strengthens the foundation of safe patient care.
As the Observation Unit Nurse Manager at Sunrise Hospital Medical Center, I have witnessed firsthand the meaningful and lasting impact Frank has had on the growth, confidence, and clinical development of our nurses. He has come to our unit on multiple occasions to provide hands-on education and support, particularly with high-risk and complex processes such as Heparin drip management and CIWA protocol implementation. He takes the time to ensure nurses understand not only the steps but the clinical reasoning behind the protocols, strengthening their critical thinking and ability to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
He has consistently made himself available as a resource, responding promptly whenever my staff or I have reached out for guidance. His presence brings reassurance, clarity, and confidence to the team. He creates an environment where nurses feel supported, respected, and empowered to grow professionally.
In addition to his direct education and mentorship, he has been instrumental in advocating for policy review and process improvements to better align nursing practice with physician orders and evidence-based standards. He actively collaborates with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to identify gaps, clarify workflows, and support changes that improve patient safety and nursing practice. His advocacy demonstrates accountability, integrity, and a deep commitment to ensuring nurses have the tools, knowledge, and systems needed to provide the highest level of care.
He exemplifies HCA Healthcare’s mission to care for and improve human life through his dedication to strengthening nurses and improving clinical practice. He consistently demonstrates ICARE values—showing compassion in how he supports staff, respect in every interaction, integrity in his advocacy, accountability in his follow-through, and excellence in advancing education and patient care.
I also had the privilege of working alongside him in the Medical ICU, where he was known as a compassionate, reliable, and clinically exceptional nurse. He was a trusted resource and mentor who consistently supported his colleagues and advocated for safe, high-quality care. In his role as a Nurse Educator, he continues to mentor nurses, foster collaboration, and advance a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
He does more than educate—he empowers nurses, advocates for meaningful change, and strengthens the foundation of safe patient care. His leadership has had a direct and lasting impact on our nurses, our unit, and the patients we serve.
He truly embodies the mission, vision, and ICARE values of HCA Healthcare and represents the highest standards of nursing excellence, mentorship, and compassionate leadership. He is profoundly deserving of this recognition through the DAISY Award.
