As I sit here to write this blurb about my extended stay at St Joes North - tears fill my eyes. I realize that the DAISY award is a nomination for exceptional nurse service, empathy, compassion, and understanding. I would like to share the journey of bringing my son into this world with you and the exceptional nurse that made this experience beyond exceptional.
A little bit of background, I came into St Joes North on Monday - thinking I was going to be sent home. Instead, I was told that I was having a baby today, and it would be in the next few hours. Emotions filled my mind as I comprehended being rushed into the OR for my first c-section.
Fritzie jumped right in. She embraced all of the challenges that came with my recovery from minute one. She was physically, emotionally, and professionally very understanding. Her scheduled check-ins of every few hours became closer and closer together. She made sure to not just be a nurse, but also a friend. She assisted with my son (when I was not physically able to) and helped me like a friend would. I never had one second of shame to embrace Fritzie's warm and caring nature. If it weren't for Fritzie, I can honestly say I do not know how I would've made it through that first night. Not physically, not mentally, and especially not emotionally. The sun coming up the next morning was a slight bit of anxiety for me because I knew Fritzie had to leave.
Fritzie made the first day of this life-changing experience unforgettable, for any and every positive way she could. The entire staff here has been professional, kind, and welcoming; but when it comes to superior, Fritzie is top of the line. Thanks for making the first day of my stay so warm and memorable!
