She is an exemplary nurse, and she goes way beyond nursing. She is the only nurse I know, even with how busy the work is, who still finds a way to braid or groom patients' hair; she makes extra effort to make our patients feel normal despite all their pain and illness. In one instance, she had a patient who had been complaining of headaches and neck pain, and the previous nurses kept on giving PRN Dilaudid. She realized that this was not appropriate; she did a neck massage with the prescribed ointment (it was not contraindicated), and the patient felt better and did not require any opioid injection that shifts. I'm also a nurse, and sometimes we go the easy way to get things done, and I know it's not always the best option. She went over and beyond, and it did require more effort, and the result was better. She is one of the million nurses that deserve this recognition.
