Gabby Koss, RN
Recently, I was involved in a trauma in the main OR. As the circulator, I was responsible for getting the operating room ready for the patient. I was fortunate to have the Emergency Department staff help transport the patient to the OR.
Gabby helped move the stretcher into the operating room, making sure all of the IV lines remained safe and secure. She was then asked—voluntold—to help hang blood products for the patient. Gabby proceeded to hang numerous units of RBCs throughout the case.
She spent the entire time in the back corner of the room and never complained once. I was able to check in with her periodically, and she was always willing to stay and help us. I truly appreciated having the extra support in the room.
Everyone worked together with outstanding communication, and I honestly don't know what I would have done without Gabby. I want to thank her for being so willing to stay and help me during such a critical situation.
