Gabby has embodied the UMC Standards of Excellence, wow'ing the patients with her attitude, and showing compassion for patients. One patient in particular, whom she gave a little 'barbershop' experience, playing some music that he chose while giving his hair a little trim and shaving his face. The patient's only request was that he wanted biscuits and gravy in the morning (which his diet allowed). In the mornings he wouldn't get what he wanted so she would go down to the cafeteria to get him his breakfast. She did this multiple times, whether he was her patient that day or not. She would sit by him and talk during her shift, playing music of his choice and the occasional checker game. She took the patient downstairs so he could get out and be in the sun for some time. She also made a point to come by and see him and talk to him, even when he was not one of her patients. Thank you, Gabby, for your compassion.
