My 9-month-old son had been sick for over a week before being admitted to the pediatric unit. Obviously, as a mother, I was very nervous and scared for my baby. Throughout my son's stay, our nurses, Gabby and Crystal, were very attentive, explained everything thoroughly, and always left room for questions and clarification. Both were very involved with my son's care. When I was unable to get my son to eat, they worked for over an hour to help get my baby to eat, trying all different foods, different ways of feeding, etc., until he ate a little something. That same night, they went out of their way to make sure that I had something to eat and brought me a warm meal. It was those “little” big things that made a huge impact on our overall stay. You can tell that both of these nurses are in the field because they care about people, and it was evident through all the help and comfort they offered to my son and my family throughout his stay on the pedi unit. These nurses carry themselves professionally and respectfully, and you can tell they take pride in their work.
