Gabby embodies every criteria of the DAISY Award. Having a loved one in a dire medical situation is the most emotional point of one's life. She cared for my mother with such skill and compassion. She cared for all of the family as well. She provided excellent medical care and kept us informed every step of the way. She anticipated my mother's needs and prevented her from further decline.
When I arrived on Friday, it was a very touch-and-go situation. By Saturday my mother had progressed positively. I attributed my mother's improvement to Gabby's care. Gabby's intuition makes her an amazing caregiver. She understood the needs of each different family member and provided them with information in the way that they needed it. Gabby was proactive with the doctors and any tests that would provide us with information and choices.
Gabby should teach a master class on compassion, kindness, and professionalism. We wouldn't have made it through this without Gabby. I don't have the words to express my gratitude. All of the ICU staff was wonderful.
