We all heard a page overhead in our department "all available help to room 36" we had a lovely lively 90 year old woman who was waiting to be admitted for CHF. Her husband was an emergency physician many many years ago, I was the only one on old enough to remember him, and she was so happy someone remembered him. He had passed away from cancer. She mentioned how she missed him. When I got to room 36 our lovely patient had gone into VT and her wish was DNR. Gabrielle was holding her hand and softly talking to her: "It's all right we won't let you be alone", and stroking her arm. Gabrielle stayed with her until she was pronounced. It was so touching to watch and showed true caring and compassion.
