We are eternally grateful for the care Gabi provided for our daughter, E, for four days. E was in the Oakland PICU following a stroke and AVM diagnosis, and our family found ourselves navigating the most difficult time in our lives. Gabi was compassionate and capable. She was positive and energetic. She provided wonderful care for our daughter and words of wisdom and support for my husband and me.

I clearly remember that after hearing our daughter's diagnosis, she gave me the tightest hug and said, "Cry now. Get it all out. Then, you'll be ready for her." I so appreciate her compassionate and firm response in a trying time. Today, E wrote her own nomination for Gabi on paper. Here is what she recorded:

Gabi was always kind. For example, she took me on a walk to look at the views and artwork. Also, Gabi gave me a stethoscope because I want to be a doctor when I grow up. Gabi was also knowledgeable. She explained how my breathing was monitored. She also knew when I needed to sit up, not lay down. Thank you Gabi! We appreciate you!
