Gail Livingston, BSN, RN, MEDSURG-BC, began her career at Chester County Hospital in January 1986 after completing the diploma nursing program at Chester County Hospital School of Nursing. Gail's career has been distinguished by her commitment to excellence in clinical practice and nursing professionalism. At the bedside, her well-developed and carefully maintained skills and knowledge make her a very effective advocate and ensure her patients get safe, high-quality care. As our externs' primary preceptor and mentor, she has been an advocate and role model for the value of continual learning and professional growth. Gail promotes and participates in shared governance and professional development, is dedicated to our patients, hospital, and community, and has truly had a lifetime of achievement in nursing that would inspire anyone and deserves to be recognized and celebrated.

***

Gail is not only a great nurse but an extraordinary educator. She has patience and enthusiasm when teaching new nursing students and externs. Gail would take her time explaining various clinical skills and wouldn't hesitate to demonstrate or explain something again or in a different way if I didn't understand it. She provided rationale for nursing actions throughout the shift, which helped me learn time management, prioritization, and medication administration.

Her passion for nursing created a motivating and comfortable learning environment. Entering the field of nursing was daunting, but Gail was able to provide support and encouragement throughout the entire process of the externship. To this day, I attribute the foundation of my nursing skills and knowledge to Gail.

Note: This is Gail's 2nd DAISY Award!

Thank you, Gail, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
