This letter is to let you know we believe Gail Turner goes above and beyond her normal duties at the VA. Some of the things she does are quite obvious; others are only seen by a discerning eye or felt through the heart.

My husband was/is a VA patient who received care during a Prostate artery embolization. Gail was on duty to prepare him for his procedure. We both noted an increased level of activity, obviously done to personnel shortages. While Gail jumped in to help others, it was obvious she was also instrumental in teaching those with less experience and did, in fact, take charge of the trainee that day.

Never during our entire time there, from pre-op to discharge, was Gail anything less than stellar at her duties, but also in being present and understanding to her patients. Gail has answers others did not. My husband became violently ill and was placed in a position of extreme pain in order to maximize recovery. Gail continuously smiled, listened, encouraged, and kept us up to date. She embodies care, empathy, and compassion, and demonstrated that to us throughout the day.

It is our hope she can be recognized in a manner befitting of those who have risen to the top and shine as an example.
