She has a way of converting a non-compliant patient to a compliant one with her own dose of sunshine.
Gaitree has proven to be one of the most dedicated RNs that I have ever worked with. She works tirelessly with a smile. She is everyone's advocate. There is nothing that she will not do to keep the day moving, the patients happy and the staff as stress-free as possible.
One of my greatest pleasures is watching her grow. She came to us with no urology experience from the inpatient service at LIJ. She has put herself in a position to learn as much as she can from all. One can not work alongside her and not pitch in to help make the day a pleasant one.
My patients sing her praises and the staff look to her as their leader and teammate. She is nurturing yet firm. I have listened to her speaking with patients here and on the phone. She has a way of converting a non-compliant patient to a compliant one with her own dose of sunshine.
Over the years, I have found the best way to connect to a patient is to speak to them about themselves, their interests, their lives, jobs, and their families. Gaitree does this in a way that transforms a stressed patient into a dignified human being. It is a quality held by too few yet it transforms a doctor's visit into a social occasion where the medicine gets done with less pain and stress than would be otherwise.
A nurse like Gaitree is a rare find. I support honoring her in any way possible.
