Garrett was recently involved in a sad situation with a patient who was coming to terms with the end of life. This particular patient had no family or friends at bedside, Garrett played that role and was this patient’s family. He was very attentive to the patient’s needs. The patient was his top priority, and Garrett went above and beyond to make sure that not only was this patient comfortable but also that the patient felt his presence so that he did not feel alone. Later on in the shift, this patient began his natural process of transitioning. Garrett was very quick with being there for this patient, holding his hands as he took his last breath. We need more nurses like Garrett.
