Gary Greenfeder, RN, BSN, CCRN

The patient was in the ICU for 4 days with a chest tube and broken ribs. On the day of discharge, the patient was ready to leave, and Gary noticed that this patient was shivering. Gary immediately took several steps, which helped to determine that the patient had spiked a fever and developed pneumonia. The patient wound up staying several more days in the ICU unit with Gary as his nurse and commended Gary for going above and beyond in every way possible to help him recover from his illness. This patient wanted Gary to be recognized for the exceptional care he provides his patients.
