Thank you to Nurse Gary for his care of our daughter, J, during her stay in the PICU. Sometimes the little things make a huge difference in how people treat one another. Gary is such a compassionate and teaching caretaker. The morning after my daughter spent the night with the staff working to keep her blood glucose levels very low, I woke up in the hospital hoping that the previous day had only been a dream. Gary took over the morning shift with a good dose of encouragement and education. He walked us through our first lesson in counting carbohydrates. He kept encouraging J that she would do well in the management of Type 1 Diabetes. He even gave her a quick math lesson highlighting the way the human heart does the consummate work of a superior engineer (because she plans to become an engineer). We were only with Gary a short time before we moved to another room. Yet, his British voice telling us "all will be well" will forever be a reminder to us that joy comes in the morning. We were so glad he was there in the morning. Thank you, Gary!"
