We could tell that she truly cared for B by the way she handled her.
The staff and volunteers at Hospice were always exceptional. We felt your organization went above and beyond in allowing me to stay with my wife of 73 years. We always felt B was in good hands there, and we were loved and cared for as well. Even with all the great care, one nurse stood out. Gay always went out of her way to make sure the family knew what was going on. She stopped what she was doing many times to discuss our concerns or to re-explain something we did not understand. When she was B’s nurse, she made sure the family understood the process of dying and where B was in the process, on a daily basis. She answered questions with calm patience. We could tell that she truly cared for B by the way she handled her when she had to be moved, or if she felt B needed something extra like a neck pillow. Gay was also quick to respond when anyone felt B was in pain. We always felt like Betty was her only patient. Thank you Gay for being an angel on earth while B was in Hospice.
