During my stay, the person that stood out the most was my nurse, Geena. She was excellent in both nursing skills and knowledge, and her personal interaction with me as well as my wife when she was visiting. Geena was resourceful, engaging, caring, reassuring, responsive, proactive, and a true patient advocate.

My wife and I felt confident while I was in her nursing care. Whenever we had questions regarding my medication or expected next steps, Geena always followed through by providing an answer that was within her nursing responsibilities or contacting others where others were responsible.

One example was when we had questions about some of my medications, which were being adjusted due to my dizziness. Some medications were being withheld as I was transitioning to new medicines and changed dosages. Geena followed up and got answers that addressed our concerns and explained the approach being taken.

Geena was also very caring, making sure I was comfortable, that I had ordered my food, and helped straighten out my tangled sheets and blankets. Geena walked with me when I was feeling better and needed to get out of bed to stretch my leg muscles. No matter how busy she was, she always found time to help and give me her full attention when attending to me.

Geena is truly an example of what an exceptional, caring, proactive, patient-advocate nurse should be. She made my hospital stay less stressful for me as her patient and for my concerned wife. She was a great help and a positive influence on my recovery.
