Gena consistently goes above and beyond to care for our patients. We had a patient with a terminal diagnosis who was going home for end-of-life care, but was so worried about being able to maintain her appearance like normal, which was very important for the patient's esteem and mental health. The patient's family bought hair dye and makeup, and Gena stayed after work to dye the patient's hair before she was discharged the next day.

Gena helped the patient with her makeup and styled her hair. While this may not seem like a nursing duty, the hair dye and makeup allowed the patient to maintain her dignity even during her illness and changed her entire demeanor. The patient was so happy and thankful to be able to go home on her own terms. Gena made a huge difference for the patient.
