General Surgery Outpatient

This team creates the backbone of the surgical outpatient service. Everything from planning follow-ups, ensuring care is administered adequately during the visit, and making sure the patient’s and family’s experiences are optimal. This team also engages in specialized care for long-term patients, providing a nursing-led gastrostomy care service, and being involved in multiple complex care clinics. Apart from the clinical duties, the team also engages in clinical audits, quality improvement, and research projects, to ensure that we continue to improve as a team. This team exhibits compassion for peers and the community throughout the year. As a team, they are the champion not only for the caring of children and their families in pediatric surgery but heralding the importance of psychosocial care and surgical interventions. They attend to the needs of patients and their families from the time of referral, to the day of the visit as they identify their needs, to the time they are discharged from the general and thoracic surgery services. For the team, children and families come first. They provide outstanding care, compassion, and concern to address individual needs to promote comfort and trust as they may undergo procedures from just a simple hernia repair, to a more complex surgery of congenital anomalies and cancer surgery.
