I would like to take the time to express love for this Patient Care Supervisor. After 20 years plus in one shift,Genevevemade the jump to the opposite shift. She is not only the kindest person, a great mother, and wife but a spectacular RN/PCS. Currently, I have only worked two full shifts with this leader. Already her willingness to change shifts exemplifies her availableness for our team. She demonstrates extreme flexibility throughout this process, even with administration hours, while doing paperwork, I have witnessed firsthand her coming in to check on the team and offer her hand. Her many years of experiences and interpersonal skills allow her to be an excellent role model. For example, my patient was missing an advanced directive. Gen advocated for my patient, was proactive and made about 20 phone calls so I could do nursing care while she endured numerous phone calls, dedicated to finding the missing piece.
As a team leader, she cares for her staff, always taking the time to ask whomever how their families are and asking me how wedding planning is going. She takes the time to know her staff on a personal level. Her knowledge and skill within the ICU extend as a true resource when I have attempted all resources to resuscitate my patient. She looks at problems at the source from a new and fresh angle to provide insight and knowledge to help out the patient first and foremost. While Gen might not stand barely 5ft tall, she has a ginormous heart for her role as PCS for WKBH, ICU, patient, families and all loved ones. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have her as a PCS. Her role and people like her is how our patient satisfaction scores can increase.
