Genevieve Olaguivel, BSN, RN

Gen is a true example of Brooks' vision, mission, and values. She is an excellent leader and ensures that her entire staff is comfortable, knowledgeable, and prepared for any issues that arise. Gen makes a point to get to know all her staff, even those working late/night shifts, and always presents herself with a smile. She is personable with all residents and families, and wants everyone to feel like they are a part of the Brooks Rehab family. She has led the team through many surveys, many without tags. She has greatly prepared her team to be excellent in her absence, but always proves to be available. She is the definition of a leader, and someone that everyone looks up to and should strive to be. BC would not be who we are without Genevieve Olaguivel. She will always go the extra mile for her team and for her residents.

I am honored to nominate our Director of Nursing for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. She consistently exemplifies the Brooks mission, vision, and values, especially service, teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning. She is a supportive and approachable leader who fosters an environment where staff feel respected, valued, and comfortable seeking guidance. Her open-door policy is genuine and meaningful, extending not only to staff but also to our patients and their families. She takes the time to listen, advocate, and ensure that every voice is heard. Her commitment to staff advocacy and professional development is outstanding. She actively promotes growth, encourages ongoing education, and serves as the facility's biggest cheerleader when it comes to learning. She inspires excellence in others and leads by example, setting a high standard for accountability and quality care.

Her leadership plays a critical role in maintaining the excellence of our building. She motivates her team to perform at their best, not out of fear, but out of respect and pride. Staff are driven to uphold the highest standards because they do not want to disappoint her or compromise the facility's integrity. Through her dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to excellence, she truly embodies what it means to be an exceptional nurse leader and is more than deserving of this recognition.
