Genita was my daughter’s nurse. She was extraordinary! She went above and beyond for A and was a real patient advocate. A had a few traumatic experiences through her birthing process, but Genita took control. The day started with the baby having a decelerated heart rate, and she quickly took action and had help in the room.

As a nurse myself, she made it clear through her actions that she had control of the situation and I praised God that he gave us exactly who we needed that day. As A's labor progressed, her epidural continued to fail her. Genita talked with several anesthesiologists and voiced her need for the epidural to be looked at. She got a lot of pushback but continued to advocate for A. Her epidural was out, and Genita pushed for them to give her a new one. This was a process that continued throughout the day, but being the strong nurse she is, she continued advocating for A. A was in pain! A could not have fought through this delivery without Genita.

I will always remember when Genita told me, “She’s my baby now.” I felt completely at ease knowing she was doing everything that needed to be done. She is a true health hero! My child, my grandson, and I cannot thank her enough for the work she does daily.
