I would like to nominate this extraordinary nurse Geoffrey River for the DAISY Award. As you know here at Holy Cross Hospital we are designated as a primary stroke center. Earning this designation defines that we provide excellent care for patients having stroke-like symptoms coming to our hospital, and that is what Geoffrey River does consistently for patients coming into the emergency department.
Geoffrey not only administers t-PA in less than 60 minutes consistently meeting core measures, he also provides the family and patient with compassion, competent, and caring behavior. He puts the patient and family at ease by educating them and providing excellent and competent care. Not only with stroke patients, but Geoffrey has been observed consistently demonstrating clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care to all his patients. He teaches new nurses and students about the importance of providing stroke care in a timely manner to help increase the patients chance to return to having a normal and quality life. I'm proud to work with a nurse like Geoffrey and it gives me great pleasure to nominate him because he truly is an extraordinary nurse.
