George Doran was assigned as my night nurse on most nights, when I was hospitalized. His skill, professionalism, gentleness, and humor helped me through the hospitalizations. I sincerely looked forward to his checking in with me and to his eclectic conversations. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about his training and his goals. My husband, son, and I were deeply touched by his interest in our Chanukah traditions. This made it less difficult to be hospitalized on the first night of this holiday. Also, we were also deeply moved to receive his personal gift of a pouch of chocolate Chanukah gelt. This small gesture truly brought tears to our eyes; we are still talking about it.
