Critical care nurses touch patients and families in unexpected ways. Georgene Lyons is a shining example, having gone above and beyond to create a few precious final days together for a terminally ill patient and his family. Georgene worked with the family to ease fears and help with hospice arrangements. Knowing that the patient enjoyed fresh air and being outside, she even arranged for a family reunion on the Saint Agnes patio. Carefully positioning the patient with his monitors and other medical equipment, Georgene wheeled him outside to the patient's surprise to enjoy time with extended family. She even hired a photographer to capture these precious moments.

This family had a beautiful experience during a tragic time. This would not have been possible without Georgene and I know they will always be grateful.
