Sometimes when I doubt myself about if I made the right choice or if I can do this, I think of Georgia and what she wrote.
Last year during my senior year of high school, I took a class called Health Career Exploration. Basically, what we did was every week, we would do rounds where one person would go and shadow a different department in an actual hospital. We went to the Mayo Hospital and the clinic in New Prague where I went to school. The week where it was my turn to go to the birthing center was my favorite by far. I knew that's where I wanted to end up anyways, but one woman made me want it even more.
Her name was Georgia. She was so enthusiastic about her job, and when I told her what I wanted to do, she got so excited. One day while I was there, nothing much was happening, so I got to sit at the nurse’s station and talk to her and ask a bunch of questions. For a whole hour, I just got to pick her brain and she was giving me all of these tips and advice, it was amazing. At the end of each week, we got evaluations back from the people we shadowed, and Georgia did mine. She wrote a comment about how engaged I was, and how she just knew I'd make a great labor and delivery nurse one day. Sometimes when I doubt myself about if I made the right choice or if I can do this, I think of Georgia and what she wrote. She barely knew me, yet she had so much faith. It really made a difference in my life, and I appreciate her so much.
