Georgie is the lead nurse in our Outpatient Infusion Room. Her skill in chemotherapy, cancer disease progress and caring for several patients at a time is commendable. She schedules, collaborates with pharmacy on drugs needed, and single handed runs the infusion room.

Here is what her patients report: She knows me as an individual, not a disease. She is proactive, gives me Emla cream to apply before my port is accessed, calls me with my blood counts, re-arranges my appointment if necessary. She advises my doctor of my progress, concerns and challenges, and advocates for resolution. She keeps the small outpatient area organized, calm and efficient. She totally understands my disease process, treatment plan and knows how to manage it.In addition she has been involved with the infusion center design for the new Cancer Institute. She has attended 10 meetings so far. Georgie defines autonomy. She audits charges, generates a schedule and maintains paper work independently. I have never had a patient complaint about her skills. When her patients are admitted as in-patients, she visits them and often starts her IV's. I round on her area frequently when she steps out of the room to get supplies, all the patients tell me how special she is by taking care of them with skill, patience, and honesty.
