I believe Georgina has been making a big difference in the lives of her patients and her staff. She is one of the most compassionate and caring nurses I have met in my nursing career. One particular instance of her making a difference that I will never forget is when she had to stay really late in the night to care for 2 post-op patients who were failed day cases as one patient went into urinary retention and the other was really nauseous and in pain but it was OPEL 4 so there were no available surgical beds at that time. This is her coming from a long day shift and she wasn't even rostered to be on call that day. She gave up the time she was supposed to be resting after work to look after those patients who needed a bit more time to recover after having their operation. The following morning, these patients were safely discharged home because of the care and attention she provided. I am writing this nomination on behalf of those patients as I believe her actions are worthy of recognition. This story is just one of many notable acts she has done as a nurse for her patients where she went above and beyond. In addition, she is an exceptional mentor to junior staff nurses and ODPs like me and also to the students who have their placements in Day Surgery Unit. She is a role model to look up to and I believe she is definitely a DAISY Nurse.
