Geraldine Eilert 2, RN, OCN, MSCRN
22 years ago, I was a frequent patient battling my Stage IV lymphoma. Geraldine was often my nurse. I've never forgotten her compassion, knowledge, practicality, and caring humor. Flash forward 22 years, my husband is fighting incurable Stage IV Metastatic Melanoma. He was admitted on Friday.
When I saw Geraldine walk into his room Saturday morning, I cried. All my memories of all my inpatient visits, feeling terrified that I was going to die, and she was always so soothing, and full circle, here she is caring for my husband. Nurses I had like Geraldine, made me decide if I survived, I would go back to school, so I did.
I got my Medical Technologist, Phlebotomy, and CNA certifications, and came back here to work, spending 2 years in 4 4-center where I was treated, then 13 years in the ED. This is also where I met my husband. Geraldine is a gem. So grateful for Geraldine and the entire GSH family.
