I was very lucky to have a nurse like Geraldine taking care of me. Coming from a family where there are several nurses with different specialties, including my wife, who’s a retired nurse. She was a nurse for over 35 years working in different capacities until retiring in 2008. She actually delayed her retirement until our older daughter was accepted in her department as a NICU nurse. Geraldyn, I would say, has the same qualities as the other nurses I’ve known. In addition to her dedication to her profession, she was also a polite person to me and addressed me as “Taytay,” also known as Dad. Every time she started her shifts, she asked me about my condition and asked me to call her for assistance if I needed help. I didn't hesitate to ask her for new robes several times due to my incontinence, which was caused by Lasix medications administered through my central line. Also, the times when I wet my bed, I was not embarrassed to ask for a new bed sheet and blanket, thinking that Geraldyn was like my daughter, who was also a nurse. She is a DAISY Nurse due to her compassion and dedication to her work. With my experience being under her care during my stay in the hospital, I would stay. I was very lucky to have her among the other nurses who cared for me. We always respect and treat each other as one Big Family.
